Our brief for Badminton Road was to extend and open up the ground floor of this mid-terrace, Edwardian house, to create an open plan and free flowing space suitable for entertaining.

All of the traditional ground floor partitions have been removed. Where we have had to retain fire separation to the escape route, a large full height sliding panel and discreet pivot door allow this space to have a meaningful connection with the living areas.

The ordinary rear elevation has been completely transformed by the new ground floor rear extension (as well as alterations to the upper floor windows). We have selected a subtle, white concrete brick in a linear format, which makes the tall elevation feel light, and gives it a friendly human scale.
